The Bolton banners on Winterfell are torn down and Stark banners raised in their place. Jon orders for Rickon’s body to be buried next to their father’s in the crypts of Winterfell as Sansa asks him where he is keeping Ramsay prisoner.

Game of Thrones: Jon falls into Ramsay’s trap

Game of Thrones Season 6 Episode 09 Battle of the Bastards

Despite Jon’s attempt to save Rickon, he sees his brother be killed by Ramsay and inadvertently falls into Ramsay’s trap. Ramsay then orders the Bolton cavalry to ride out to Jon, and Davos is forced to order the Stark cavalry out of position to shield him.

The armies gather the following morning as Ramsay brings out Rickon. He tells Rickon to run towards Jon’s army and, as he does, brings out a bow and fires arrows at him. Jon hastily rides out on a horse to try to save Rickon.

RAMSAY: Do you like games, little man? Let’s play a game. Run to your brother. The sooner you make it to him, the sooner you get to see him again. That’s it. That’s the game. Easy. Ready? Go. No, you have to run, remember? Those are the rules.

Game of Thrones Season 6 Episode 03 Oathbreaker

Smalljon Umber meets with Ramsay Bolton and Harald Karstark and explains that Jon Snow has been letting Wildlings through the Wall and fears that they will make their way south.  In order to strengthen the truce with Ramsay, Smalljon says that he has a gift for him. He brings in two hooded figures, who are revealed to be Rickon Stark and Osha the wildling.

UMBER: The bastard Jon Snow led an army of wildlings past the Wall. We’re farther north than any of you fuckers. Wildlings come down, we always have to fight them first. I like fighting wildlings. Been doing it all my life. But there are too many of them for us to beat back alone.
RAMSAY: So now you’ve come seeking help?
UMBER: We need to help each other. The colder it gets, the farther south those goat fuckers will roam. Won’t take them long to get here.
